This post is stirred from a title of an album "What Do I Do With Me" that Tanya Tucker released early in 1991 and much like Reba M, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and even good ole Rita Coolidge before her, this Texas-born sweetheart can sing from the heart. She has the gift of song and the courage to forge where many male country performers dug their heels into solid recording ground.
I love lots of different genres of music, Country music being the second favorite next to good ole rock n roll; I seek all kinds of voices and Tanyas is a bit more soothing than lets say Shania Twain (you can keep that twang, thank you very much !) She faces situations with such emotional fortitude you cannot but appreciate her way of resolving things through the melodic harmony she is so good at presenting.
She tells a story when I listen to the songs in the order they are presented on the album, or if I just choose a single song from her many albums recorded since the 70's. One can visualize her ride through the waves of contemplation and sense her re-awakening and sing along with her for the words are easy to remember and paint a valid picture of what she is crooning over.
In an album of ten songs, a few stand out: "when she sings, “Everything That You Want’ (#5) you sense the confusion a woman goes through when loving a difficult man and in song #6 you relate Trail of Tears”and reach for that tissue cause it brings on waterfalls, if your emotionally aware. I feel this performer can offer anyone suffering through bad times, to help reveal a great time when simplicity and story-telling make us better people than the person we are today . . .
Thanks for reading and uhhhm, listening to what lays in the heart of a woman.
'till next time, erica/sojournseeker~ the enlightenment advisor
