Nope, didn't grow up in the 50's. It was before my time. But it sounds like it was a very exciting time to be alive in.

Yes.. I was a child of the 40's and 50's and remember them all.. had and argument with my Dad over me wanting the black and white saddle oxfords and after that came penny loafers. dad didn't like Elvis either LOL.

I graduated from high school in 1960, so this was the era I grow up in. Those were the days before bucket seats and seat belts, and seating in cars was much more flexible for couples and for crowds. I remember ten of us crowding into the youth director's car for rides home on Sunday nights, and our trying to sort out who was going to have to sit on who's lap.

Laurel & Hardy were from the early days of movies so that is probably the 20's, not the 50's. national Velvet came out in 1944 and Grease is from 1978??? The rest of the photos are from the 50's. hubby was born in the 50's and I was born in the 60's.

Being born in 1957, I grew up with many of these images, although I actually was growing up in the 60s and 70s. BTW...Grease was the 70s. ;-)

I grew up in the thirties and forties. My children were born in the fifties. I remember the day of Pearl Harbor and WWII. It was more of a Christian country back then. Neighbors helped neighbors.

Yes Jean.... Life today has to cause folks to wonder what we lost over time, why we lost it and to consider the grievous price our nation has paid as we have turned away from our roots?

Those were such carefree times! People were kinder and gentler. Marriages lasted a lifetime. Families worshiped together and helped one another. The 50's definitely had the coolest cars!

The 50s were a little before my time. They sound wonderful... although I notice a certain similarity among those who've commented. I'm not so sure they were so wonderful and carefree if you were not white, Christian, straight and middle-class... a man or a man's wife.
